Hypnosis Helps Create Family Togetherness and Growth
Did you know that a fun and easy activity for a family to do to help create unity is hypnosis? We often find that we are overly busy and do not have enough time to do things together. Children have sports, parents work long hours, sometimes we can't even eat on the same schedule. Often we can end up feeling disconnected from one another because of all the separate activities and time schedules.
A family can take a few minutes every week to practice a simple hypnosis exercise together. This exercise can help you stay connected even when you are not together or when you are all extra busy. It makes no difference if the children in the family are young or older. Everyone can participate and you can take as little as 10 minutes a week to do this. When a famiily chooses a vision of who they want to be, you can create that no matter how many activities and different paths each member takes.
Here is what you do:
- The first time you must decide upon a word or two that really says what you want for your family. These words are words that describe what you all want your family to be. For example, you may agree that, "to us we choose for our family to be respectful and kind to each other." It does not matter if this is already how you are or how you want yourselves to be. What you choose is the vision you now choose to create.
- Next, choose a place, even if it is not somewhere you have ever been, that can represent the phrase you chose on how you want your family to be. For example, "we choose to picture us all together at a beautiful lake at sunset", or "we picture ourselves in our backyard catching fireflies"...whatever you want is just fine.
- Then everyone closes their eyes and holds hands.
- Have one member of the family count slowly out loud from 10 to 1.
- Have the same person state the word or phrase you all selected to describe what you want as a family (such as "we choose for our family to be...whatever you decide here").
- The same person says, "now everyone remain silent and imagine that you see us all together at the (insert whatever place you chose)."
- Everyone remains silent, eyes closed for a few minutes. then the same person who has led the exercise says, "now we will count back from 5 to 1 and each number will make us fully alert and bring us closer to our choice of what we want our family to be."
- Then the same person counts from 5 to 1 and says, "open your eyes."
- Do this every week at least once. If you can do it twice, even better.
